Virtual Tour of National Cathedral

I took a day trip to National Cathedral on Saturday while most of the boys in my house went golfing.

If you haven’t been to the National Cathedral and you are in the area, it’s a great way to spend a few hours. There is also a ton of free parking right outside the church if you go on the weekend.

Despite being built in the early 1900s, the church has a very old world feel, featuring a stunning facade and pair of rose windows reminiscent of Notre Dame, a seven-story high Gothic interior, and a gorgeous English garden called the Bishop’s garden. Of course, there are also some very distinct American touches.

One of my favorite features is Ex Nihilo, a sculpture about creation by Frederick Hart. It is absolutely compelling.

Interesting fact - the lights from the windows are more blue/purple in the early hours and pink/orange later in the day. One of the guides recommended I come back in winter to take photos. He said the light is amazing.

Enjoy the tour.
