St. Paul has a pretty good definition of love in his letter to the Corinthians, for a saint. ;)
Love is patient and kind; love is not jealous or boastful; it is not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.
I think if he was thinking about engaged couples he’d add that love is giddy, it’s infectious, and it doesn’t care at all about the weather.
This couple spent nearly two hours with me working on their dance moves, carrying around a laundry basket of props, and walking, walking, walking, as I dragged them around Manassas on a cold afternoon. Never once did they stop laughing.
But it was the 'love never ends’ part that kept shining through.
Her engagement ring was his grandmother’s. The blanket that kept them warm was made by her great-grandmother. Even the location had some family ties as her father is part of a volunteer crew that maintains the beautiful raised path down at the Stone Bridge. Four generations of love present in this session, weaving through everything, and rejoicing in all that is right.
Congratulations to a wonderful couple.
